Reebok has a storied history of collaborating with iconic figures in sports, and their partnership with football legend Emmitt Smith is no exception. This collaboration brought to life some of the most memorable turf training shoes of the 90s. Now, Reebok is partnering with Panini America, the renowned sports card manufacturer, to honor Emmitt Smith with a new collection inspired by Panini's flagship Prizm card brand. Previously, the duo worked on a pack of Reebok Questions, Allen Iverson’s signature sneaker with Reebok.
The Panini x Reebok Emmitt Smith Collection features three distinct iterations of historic Reebok turf training shoes: the Preseason 94 Low, Preseason 94, and Emmitt Smith's signature ES22. Each model draws inspiration from Panini’s iconic Prizm cards, incorporating unique design elements and colorways reminiscent of the popular sports cards.
The Preseason 94 Low Purple Prizm is a nostalgic nod to the Panini Purple Prizm parallel. This low-cut trainer combines purple, white, and black in a mixed-material upper with a premium leather base, hairy suede toe overlay, and TPU Purple Prizm side stripe detail. The shoe also features Prizm logos on the tongue and heel, bringing a modern twist to a classic design.
For the standard Preseason 94, Panini celebrates the coveted Gold Prizm and Gold Shimmer Prizm parallel cards. This metallic gold build boasts a premium leather upper, a TPU Gold Shimmer midfoot strap, a Prizm heel logo, and Hexalite cushioning, offering both style and comfort. Available in adult and youth sizing, this mid-90s turf training shoe is a bold homage to Panini's limited-edition cards.
Finally, the ES22 Color Blast is a limited-edition take on Emmitt Smith’s signature Reebok ES22 training shoe from 1996. This model features a bright white, patent leather upper with a multi-color speckled midsole and flecked laces. The Color Blast treatment includes a Color Blast Vector logo badge, custom Color Blast sock liner, and clear TPU Prizm and Vector lace webbing, all seated atop a Prizm and Reebok branded translucent outsole. Each pair purchased will come with a limited-edition Panini x Reebok Prizm Emmitt Smith trading card featuring imagery of Emmitt Smith from the '90s and 2000s.
The Panini x Reebok Emmitt Smith Collection will release on June 14, 2024, through Reebok and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $120 for the Preseason 94 Low, $140 for the regular Preseason 94, and $200 for the ES22.
