Brands across the globe have made the environment a focus when manufacturing products as methods in the past have led to an increase in pollutants and emissions. One industry that has been a major contributor to this is the fashion world, both footwear, and apparel, as the use of raw materials, dyes, and the processes around manufacturing/delivering products are massive. Helping reduce the environmental impact of footwear production at adidas is Parley Ocean Plastics, an organization dedicated to removing plastic waste from our oceans and recycling them for use across the globe. While plenty of products from The Three Stripes have begun to use recycled parts, Parley recently helped produce a pack of 4DFWD sneakers and now is helping with six colorways of the adidas Supernova 2.0.
Across the six colorways, all follow the same construction by using a minimum of 50% Parley Ocean Plastic, 50% recycled polyester, and a minimum of 10% fewer emissions per pair (compared to a standard Supernova 2.0). Like many Parley collabs, we see a wavy knit pattern take over the Primeknit upper with stitching details landing along the midfoot and tongue. Parley branding is placed near the heel while typical Three Stripes details are found along the spine of the tongue. Underfoot sits a dual-cushioned midsole featuring Boost in the heel and Bounce near the forefoot. Rounding out the design is the Continental rubber outsole below.
The Parley x adidas Supernova 2.0 Pack is set to release on February 15th, 2023 through adidas.com and select retailers online and in-store. Coming split between men’s and women’s sizing (depending on the colorway), the pairs will all retail for $120.
