Patta, founded in Amsterdam back in 2004, has risen to become a household name amongst sneakerheads and streetwear enthusiasts thanks in part to their collaborative history with brands such as Nike, Asics, and Carhartt WIP. Their most recent capsule with Nike, their wavy take on the Air Max 1, saw success right out the gate, releasing a foursome of colorways in the second half of 2021. After getting first looks at an upcoming all-white pair, Patta and Nike are taking the colorblocking from the "Rush Maroon" pair and creating the Patta x Nike Air Max 1 "Brown."
Coming dressed in a mix of leather and mesh across the uppers overlays and underlays, the sneaker takes on an almost two-tone look, sans the maroon collar and plastic eyestay in blue. Down on the toebox, a silver mesh is surrounded by Patta’s wavy redesign of the classic AM1 overlays, taking on a burnt orange color from heel to toe. Branding details remain standard on the upper with the Nike Swoosh along the midfoot getting silver piping and the mini-Swoosh located on the mudguard coming embroidered in a silver thread.
Laces take on a tonal shade of dark russet, working up the same colored mesh tongue to the silver and white Patta and Nike co-branded tongue tag. Back on the heel, the Nike Air embroidery uses yet another tonal shade of brown, allowing for the branding to stay visible atop the brown leather. Completing the look is a sail AM1 midsole with a visible air unit in the heel paired with a bordeaux-like rubber outsole.
The Patta x Nike Air Max 1 Dark Russet is slated to release on August 12th, 2022 via Patta. A larger global release will take place via SNKRS and select Nike retailers online and in-store at a later date. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $160.
