When it comes to NBA players, PJ Tucker is widely recognized as the league's sneaker king. Once again proving his eminent status in the sneaker world, Tucker has just debuted his very own Nike Air Flight 89 Low. Despite being a sneakerfree agent, Tucker's penchant for Nike has led to him getting his own version of one of the brand's classic basketball silhouettes, with the low-top version of the sneaker being introduced last year thanks to a Stussy collab.
The PJ Tucker x Nike Air Flight 89 Low mirrors the athlete's distinguished taste with its premium construction and subtle yet striking design details. This ultra-limited pair is crafted with a premium tumbled nubuck for the overlays and features a breathable mesh base, both adorned in icy blue hues, creating a sleek and refreshing look. The personal touch comes with Tucker's own logo embellished on the heel, adding a signature twist to this classic model. Meanwhile, Nike's traditional branding remains intact across the silhouette. The design is completed with a cream and grey midsole beneath, offering comfort and support, while the icy outsole below ensures durability and traction on and off the court.
Inspiration for the pair comes from traveling by plane, with the 472 total pairs symbolizing the number of seats on a Boeing 777-300. Each pair gets its own seat number that coordinates with a seat found on the plane. Other motifs nodding to air travel come via the sky graphic on the insole and the packaging.
PJ Tucker’s Nike Air Flight 89 Low will release on May 5, 2024, exclusively through The Better Generation, a boutique partially owned by PJ Tucker. An EQL raffle is live and ends on release day. The pair will retail for $160. Download the Sole Retriever mobile app to stay updated on PJ Tucker’s Air Flight 89 Low and more in the sneaker and streetwear world.
