Reebok and streetwear label PLEASURES have unveiled its latest collaboration: the PLEASURES x Reebok Not Guilty Collection. This collaboration is not just another addition to the fashion landscape but a powerful statement against the systemic injustices within the cannabis industry.
This collection's heart is the Club C BULC sneaker, an innovative skate-inspired version of Reebok's classic Club C tennis shoe. Crafted in PLEASURES' signature green, this unisex sneaker features premium suede and nylon upper materials, a durable rubber toe cap, and a plush terrycloth interior lining. Unique elements like a tongue stash pocket and asymmetrical tongue graphics reading "JUSTICE REFORM" alongside the Reebok Star Crest emblem underscore the collection's advocacy focus.
The collection includes a range of unisex black apparel to complement the footwear: a Premium Heavy Weight Hoodie ($120), a Street Style Relaxed Fit Tee ($50), and Crinkled Nylon 5-Inch Shorts ($60). These pieces not only extend the collection's aesthetic but also contribute to the overarching message of justice reform.
Reebok's donation of $10K to the Last Prisoner Project, as part of their "Human Rights Now!" platform, further emphasizes the commitment of both brands to advocate for change within the criminal justice system, especially concerning cannabis-related offenses. This initiative aims to correct the disproportionate impact of cannabis prohibition on Black and Brown communities.
“At its core, the War on Drugs was built upon a decades-long, false, media-driven narrative that “marijuana” was one of society’s most menacing enemies,” said Sarah Gersten, Executive Director of Last Prisoner Project. “This misinformation campaign ultimately led to a highly racialized enforcement of cannabis prohibition, which disproportionately surveilles, arrests, charges, and incarcerates Black and Brown community members. To know we have the support of companies like Reebok and PLEASURES, helping us break these stigmas and reverse these trends – it’s a powerful statement.”
The PLEASURES x Reebok Not Guilty Collection will release on April 19, 2024, via PLEASURES online, while a global launch will take place on April 20, 2024. Available in men's sizing, the retail price of the Club C BULC is set at $130.
