Real Madrid has an adidas Gazelle on the way, a sign of their incredible partnership, perfect for supporters attending the match and watching from afar. In such a fierce and competitive market, the sponsorship deals in domestic soccer struck between brands and clubs are among some of the most lucrative business relationships on the planet. The current agreement between The Brand With Three Stripes and Los Blancos has a value of $1.2 billion. This deal came into effect in 2020 and is set to last until 2028; it is a testament to the strength of the connection between the two.
Having first been a sponsor, indeed the first sponsor to appear on a Real Madrid jersey, back in 1981, adidas went on to be the equipment supplier until 1986. Then, after a 12-year hiatus, a deal was back in place and has been continuously since 1998, representing one of the longest brand partnerships in elite soccer. The current deal was estimated to be worth triple the previous agreement. With the continued growth of demand for soccer and club merchandise and huge global TV deals giving sponsors more airtime than ever, the sky is the limit for future negotiations.
Utilizing the beloved Gazelle model, the Real Madrid x adidas Gazelle is enveloped in charcoal suede. A contrast of putty mauve leather Stripes on the sides gives the Gazelle its iconic look. More leather is found via the back heel tab, which has a darker hue, while charcoal is used for the sockliner. A white ribbed tongue complete with Trefoil branding represents the true colors of the club, while the Real Madrid crest appears at the back heel. Gold foil lettering runs parallel to the stripes announcing the Gazelle name. Gum soles are applied, finishing the aesthetic.
The Real Madrid x adidas Gazelle is set to release on September 11, 2024, through adidas and select retailers in-store and online. Available in men's sizing, retail is TBD.
