Many think of Nike when it comes to the most popular performance basketball silhouettes, though their outright dominance in the space today wasn’t always the case. Rivaling some of the top sneakers from The Swoosh during its inception, Allen Iverson’s signature sneaker line with Reebok brought some of the most iconic Reebok basketball sneakers to date like the Answer 1, Answer 4, and Question Mid. Now in 2022, the former of the three is set to release in a luxury-like “Black Gold” colorway.
Covering the upper are various leather panels, coming both in the patent and tumbled variety, while a majority black color scheme gets accented by gold and white hits throughout. Wrapping around the edge of the sole and upper is a black tumbled leather mudguard, host to Reebok branding on the lateral side of the heel. Working up from there you’ll find even more tumbled leather making up the vamp and overlay along the eyestay and collar, accented by golden ovals near the top of the eyestays. For the tongue, patent leather shines brightly with white and gold “Iverson 3” branding running down the spine and “Reebok” text embroidered up top on the mesh portion. Back along the collar yet another hit of Iverson and his jersey number (3) comes in the form of a golden patch with “I3” written in its iconic font. Underfoot, a white foam midsole gets two hits of gold near the forefoot and heel while the semi-translucent black rubber outsole features speckles of gold throughout, finishing the design.
The Reebok Answer 1 Black Gold is set to release on November 18th, 2022 through Reebok and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $170.
