Austin Reaves, the rising star of the Los Angeles Lakers, took an unconventional route for his sneaker endorsement by collaborating with Chinese sportswear brand Rigorer. Over a year has passed since the debut of the AR1, and now fans are eagerly anticipating the ninth colorway, dubbed Family Ties. This special edition celebrates Reaves' unique journey and pays tribute to his grandmothers, incorporating personal elements that make this release particularly meaningful.
The Rigorer AR1 Family Ties is designed to honor Reaves' grandmothers' favorite colors and hobbies. The sneaker features orange shades across the upper with contrasting yellow and blue accents. A unique touch is added with Reaves' grandmothers' names on the reverse side of the tongue.
The insoles display illustrations of their favorite pastimes, such as card games and gardening, adding a heartfelt element to the design. The heel is adorned with a cat drawing, further personalizing the sneaker. Branding details appear on the vamp and midfoot, enhancing the overall aesthetic. Underfoot, the shoe boasts a foam midsole in white, yellow, and blue, paired with a blue rubber outsole for optimal performance on the court.
The Rigorer AR1 Family Ties will release on July 13, 2024, through Rigorer and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $100.
