As a brand primarily known for its running silhouettes, New Balance often pays tribute to (or directly works with) various organizations and running events across the globe. Outside of their work nodding to various marathon events, NB has taken trips across the pond to team up with the London-based running club Run The Boroughs. Previously working on the 991 and 730 silhouettes, Run The Boroughs (RTB) is now adding its touch to the iconic New Balance 576 Made In UK.
Like most Made In UK New Balance releases, the model hosts a series of premium materials, including pigskin suede, leather, and mesh, with RTB throwing shades of green and grey throughout the design. This color palette directly references the city of London and its concrete streets, as seen on the grey toebox, tongue, sockliner, and lace set. At the same time, green hits represent the city's often overlooked green spaces. Lighter green shades appear on the heel tab and midfoot, with the heel overlay, mudguard, and “N” branding coming in a darker variety. Atop the tongue, you’ll find a velcro patch bearing New Balance branding, allowing you to attach one of the five included patches in the packaging. North, south, east, and west are represented on four compass patches, while a fifth one features Run The Borough’s “Rainy Day” logo alongside the brand’s name. Rounding out the look is the creamy tri-toned midsole which features ENCAP cushioning paired with a gum rubber outsole.
The Run The Boroughs x New Balance 576 Made In UK is set to release in 2023 through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is currently TBA.
