Salehe Bembury Teases His New Puma Sneaker Design

Over the summer of last year, Puma announced that Salehe Bembury would work with the German sportswear label to produce a new basketball sneaker. In and around the announcement, Bembury was spotted wearing a pair of Puma sneakers that utilized some of his design motifs, notably his 3D fingerprint pattern, on the sole unit. While this triple white pair was likely an early prototype or sample, Bembury has taken to Instagram with 6 months at Puma under his belt to showcase what is likely to be his first collaboration with the brand.
Not a basketball silhouette in the slightest, the sneaker draws comparisons to Puma’s Deviate Nitro 3, a performance running silhouette released last summer. The upper’s general shape shares similar DNA to the Deviate Nitro 3, but it has added organic overlays and a Formstrip on the midfoot that resembles Salehe’s design language. A direct nod to the collaboration is found on the medial side, with a co-branded Puma and Salehe Bembury logo stamped in a fingerprint-covered font.
This same font is found on the mini Puma logo on the perforated tongue. Down below, the thick foam midsole contrasts the earthy greens of the upper and takes on an organic, 3D fingerprint design that is decidedly different yet similar to his previous work with Crocs. Here, the front half of the midsole takes on the same striations found on the Deviate Nitro 3, with the back half taking on the fingerprint design.
This new Salehe Bembury x Puma running sneaker has no confirmed release info, but with the year just starting, it’s safe to say the duo will release this (or some other product) before the end of 2025.
