Asics has remarkably repositioned its brand, particularly with the resurgence in popularity of its Gel-Kayano 14 model. This sneaker has become a canvas for numerous high-profile collaborations, partnering with esteemed entities like Kith, atmos, and JJJJound, to name a few. Elevating this collaborative tradition, Asics has again joined forces with Singaporean sneaker customizer SBTG and retailer Limited Etd for an exclusive release: the Monsoon Patrol Pack, featuring the Gel-Kayano 14. This collaboration is not the first rodeo for these partners, as they previously brought the Monsoon Patrol concept to the Gel-Lyte III, which was met with acclaim for its functional enhancements tailored for adverse weather conditions.
The SBTG x Limited Etd x Asics Gel-Kayano 14 Monsoon Patrol Pack embodies the spirit of resilience and adaptability and comes inspired by the monsoon seasons seen in SBTG and Limited Etd’s home of Singapore. The pack introduces two distinct colorways, Black and Cream, each constructed from the standard mesh and leather materials but with a significant upgrade: a silicon coating covering the lower half for enhanced protection against the elements. A layer of ripstop fabric is integrated above the mesh base, further augmenting its weather-resistant capabilities.
More ripstop is found via the pouch placed on the tongue, emblazoned with the Monsoon Patrol logo, symbolizing the pack's readiness for any weather challenge. The lateral heel of each sneaker showcases detailed technical information, including the collaboration's participants and the materials employed in the upper's construction. The collaboration's identity is further solidified with the branding of SBTG, Limited Etd, and Asics featured on the insole, creating a cohesive and branded experience. Completing the design is the iconic Gel-Kayano 14 midsole in a tonal hue for each pair.
The SBTG x Limited Etd x Asics Gel-Kayano 14 Monsoon Patrol Pack will release in 2024 through SBTG, Limited Etd, and Asics online and in-store. As of now, the retail price has not been announced.
