New Balance and Shohei Ohtani, the two-time American League MVP and international sensation, have officially announced the launch of Ohtani’s first signature collection with the brand. This highly anticipated collection highlights Shohei’s extraordinary dual talents as a hitter and pitcher. The Shohei Ohtani Signature Collection features on-field performance gear, off-field sports style essentials, and his inaugural signature cleat, the Ohtani 1.
Items in the collection showcase Shohei’s logo, a sketch of him rounding first base, symbolizing his incredible athleticism and unique skills. The elements of baseball inspire the pieces, combining classic neutral tones with Marsh Green to represent the infield dirt, pitcher’s mound, and outfield. The collection includes a woven jacket, woven pants, and cotton tees, blending tradition with modern minimalism. French Terry pieces feature overlocking stitch lines that mimic baseball stitching, and many items include double pockets, paying homage to Shohei’s dual role as a two-way player.
The Ohtani 1 cleat is designed for versatility and high performance, catering to the unique needs of a two-way player. Developed with insights from Shohei, the cleat is engineered to sit closer to the ground, providing enhanced comfort and durability. Integrating FuelCell foam and a raised triangle pattern along the toe box offers superior durability and consistency throughout the long season. The premium PU upper ensures flexibility without compromising performance. Available in two classic colors, white with gold and black with gold, the Ohtani 1 will be offered in metal cleat and turf styles.
Shohei Ohtani's New Balance Ohtani 1 and the entire Shohei Ohtani x New Balance collection will release on July 15, 2024, through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Fans attending this year's MLB All-Star Weekend can shop the collection a day in advance in Fort Worth, Texas. As of this writing, retail pricing has yet to be announced.
