With little fanfare behind its initial launch, Netflix’s Squid Game became one of the most popular series in the company’s history. In the first 28 days, it was viewed by over 142 million Netflix households, and the show’s various challenges made their way into the cultural zeitgeist. With the surprise smash hit set to premiere its second season on December 26, 2024, Netflix has teamed up with Crocs to produce a collaborative Classic Clog.
Inspiration for the design comes from the green jumpsuits each of the 456 contestants in the game wear, with the Croslite upper getting covered in a graphic pattern resembling the outfit. Jibbitz charms nod to some of the most iconic parts of the show, including the Dalgona candy contestant must carefully cut to make it past one of the first few rounds, the head of the doll used in the “red light, green light” game, the mask used by the guards who enforce the rules of the game, and the invite card. Also included is the play area for the titular game and a marble that recalls the game of marbles played in episodes 6 and 7 of the first season. Along the sidewall of the sole unit, we see a blood splatter effect alongside depictions of games from the show. This bloody pattern also goes onto the sports mode strap, which features 456 on the spine, the number worn by the series' protagonist.
The Squid Games x Crocs Classic Clog will release in 2024 through Crocs and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $70.
