Stone Island is a significant player in the fashion world, renowned for its innovative fabric treatments and utilitarian designs. In a strategic move to expand its influence, Stone Island entered a multi-year partnership with New Balance, a brand celebrated for its heritage and performance-driven footwear. This collaboration has birthed several successful releases, including running silhouettes and soccer cleats. However, the duo’s most iconic project is their work on the Steven Smith-designed New Balance 574. Following the original Steel Blue colorway, Stone Island is set to introduce two new colorways of the 574 Legacy in June 2024.
The new Stone Island x New Balance 574 Legacy Collection embodies the earthy aesthetic that has become a hallmark of their collaborations. The first colorway features a Dark Green palette, while the second takes on a Light Green shade. Both pairs are constructed with a durable ripstop base layer, complemented by premium suede overlays in the respective hues.
The mudguard, midfoot, and heel are all adorned with this luxurious suede, providing a sophisticated contrast to the rugged ripstop material. The midfoot's N logo, crafted in a sleek silver hue, features a unique lattice pattern, adding a touch of modernity to the classic design. Further distinguishing these models is the removable Stone Island patch atop the tongue, allowing for a customizable element. The design is completed with a two-tone foam midsole that ensures comfort and support, paired with a grippy rubber outsole for enhanced traction.
The Stone Island x New Balance 574 Legacy Collection will release June 14, 2024, through Stone Island, New Balance, and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price has yet to be announced.
