In 2024, adidas celebrated the 40th Anniversary of the beloved Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with a turtle-themed adidas Superstar, delighting fans of the franchise and sneakerheads alike. Following the rapid sell-out of the initial TMNT-themed sneakers, adidas is keeping the momentum going with a Master Splinter-themed colorway, and now The Three Stripes are adding another pair to the collection with Shredder coming to life on the Superstar.
The Shredder edition of the adidas Superstar features an all-black design that captures the menacing aura of the iconic antagonist. The upper combines premium tumbled leather with soft suede accents, embodying a sleek, battle-ready look. The shoe's classic rubber shelltoe is in matching black, maintaining the Superstar's traditional aesthetic while integrating Shredder's dark character traits. Subtle white accents punctuate the design, appearing on the Three Stripes, lace set, and sockliner, contrasting the predominantly dark palette. Unique lace dubraes add a collectible element, showcasing Shredder's helmet and the Foot Clan logo, deepening the thematic connection.
A touch of purple on the heel tab also nods to Shredder's signature robes, incorporating a piece of the character's visual identity into the shoe. Inside, the sneaker features a custom insole adorned with TMNT graphics and dual branding. The design is completed with a sleek black midsole and white outsole, reinforcing the villainous vibe suitable for sneaking through the shadows of New York City's sewers.
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x adidas Superstar Shredder will release May 22, 2024, through adidas and select retailers online and in-store.
