Starting out as an online forum for sneaker and streetwear enthusiasts in the UK, The Basement (often referred to as BSMNT) has found major success through collaborations with major brands in the footwear industry, including Nike and New Balance. While they’ve had the opportunity to work with The Swoosh in years prior, NB has given the group a handful of drops throughout 2022 and it seems they are continuing their 2002R series with a new “Stone Grey” colorway.
Taking on a similar construction to the previously released “Moss Green” and “Earth Brown” colorways, this “Stone Grey” rendition utilizes a mixture of premium suede and leather across the neutral tones on the upper. Black hits take over the toecap and mudguard along the profile while a smooth grey suede makes up the base layer. Slightly darker grey tones appear on the leather overlays while the collar, laces, sockliner, and tongue come in a stark white hue. Branding details denoting the collaboration come via the window atop the tongue with “BSMNT” proudly displayed in black. Underfoot, the sole unit (borrowed from the NB 860v2) comes in black.
The Basement x New Balance 2002R Stone Grey is set to launch on December 4th, 2022 exclusively through bsmntstore.com at 11:00 AM ET/8:00 PT. A wider release is set for December 23rd. Coming in men’s sizing, retail is set at $245.
