Philadelphia-based sneaker retailer Lapstone & Hammer, renowned for their innovative collaborations, are teaming up with Asics again to bring a new life to the Gel-Kayano 14 with the Dip Dye pack, following their last link-up in February. This latest collection explores a theme rooted in daily routines and the vibrant start of mornings experienced worldwide, expressed through distinctive dye colors representing various global cultures.
The Gel-Kayano 14 has been chosen again for its structure suitable for detailed dye processes, and this release will showcase three new colors: Coffee, Matcha, and Ube, each representing popular morning beverages from different corners of the world. These shades aim to mirror the richness of coffee in American cities, the traditional essence of matcha in Japanese culture, and the trendy appeal of Ube in Filipino cuisine. Additionally, the revered Indigo dye returns from the first installment, continuing its legacy. Each sneaker undergoes a hand-dip dye process that ensures no two pairs are alike, offering uniqueness in every box. The differentiation in dye uptake between men's and women's models also adds a distinct touch, with men's versions presenting darker, bold hues against lighter meshes and women's pairs showing a brighter, more cohesive color profile.
The Lapstone & Hammer x Asics Gel-Kayano 14 Dip Dye Pack will release on May 18, 2024, exclusively via Lapstone & Hammer in-store, with leftover pairs released online at 12:00 PM ET. These special edition sneakers will be available in men’s and women’s sizing, with the retail price set at $200.
