Back in December 2013, Todd Snyder opened up his very first pop-up in Manhattan's Nolita neighborhood at 242 Elizabeth Street. Dubbed the "City Gym," the shop was inspired by '70s fitness centers and offered a vast range of retro-influenced workout gear. Even though this took place almost a whole decade ago, fans continue to reminisce about it even today, and to commemorate it, the New York City-based fashion designer has teamed up with New Balance for the aptly-named Todd Snyder x New Balance 237 "City Gym."
Paying homage to the "City Gym" pop-up from nine years prior, Snyder's take on the 237 works on top of a light grey nylon base with contrast white stitching throughout. Around the lacing system and toebox the sneaker has been fitted with hairy suede panels, while the tongue tag and heel are dressed in smooth black letter, with the former receiving the "NB" logo along the bottom left corner. A brown and cream pull tab features around the back, and underneath the crisp wedge-shaped midsole you'll find a gum rubber waffle outsole which provides wearers with a durable traction with every step.
The Todd Snyder x New Balance 237 City Gym is set to release on October 19th, 2022 in men's sizes with a retail price yet TBA. Expected to drop at Todd Snyder, New Balance, and a select retailers both online and in physical locations, make sure you keep it locked right here for your best chance to cop.
