Since Under Armour Curry has signed a billion dollar lifetime deal with Steph Curry, the brand has spent this year looking back on his career. Previously recalling his “Draft Day” suit, Complex has reported that UA is set to re-release the Curry 1 and 2 from the lauded "Back 2 Back MVP" Pack, honoring Steph Curry's unforgettable 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 NBA seasons. The upcoming release is a one-to-one reissue of the original "Back 2 Back MVP" Pack that debuted in 2016. It will also mark the first time that the pack has been retroed since its initial release. Both shoes within the back are loaded with details invoking the NBA MVP Trophy, which was named after Michael Jordan in 2022.
The Curry 1 flaunts its regular synthetic upper, prominent perforations, and emblematic branding details from Under Armour and Steph Curry. The color palette follows a gradient scheme, transitioning from a pristine white at the toe to a rich black towards the heel. Text embellishments on the black base denote some of Curry's impressive achievements, further enhancing its nostalgic value.
In contrast, the Curry 2 exhibits a different gradient, with gold gracing the toe and black dominating the back half. The branding elements remain faithful to this two-tone color combo. As an homage to the memorable seasons, the inside of the tongue on both sneakers sports a tag for the respective seasons, "2014-15" for the Curry 1 and "2015-16" for the Curry 2.
The Under Armour Curry 1 and Curry 2 Back 2 Back MVP Pack will release July 21, 2023, through Under Armour and select retailers online and in-store. The retail price has yet to be announced.
