While we are all accustomed to the history of the Air Jordan 1 silhouette, its KO iteration has been shrouded in mystery for decades now. To this day, we’re still unsure of what the acronym actually stands for and what this scaled-down version of the AJ 1 High was intended for, though theories point to it being a “Knock Off” version designed by Nike themselves. After being vaulted for some time, Jordan Brand made a push throughout 2022 on the silhouette but it seems like 2023 will bring with it a new iteration. Now we’re set to receive a low-top version thanks to one of Jordan Brand’s most prolific collaborators in recent memory, Union Los Angeles.
Taking on a mostly all-white canvas upper, the sneaker keeps things simple as stitching details and layers throughout come in tonal white shades. Some accenting flair is added via the classic Union LA motif of adding yellow overstitching details (seen on the eyestay overlay and tongue) as well as a "UN/LA" branded tab on the end of the Swoosh branding. Speaking of the Swoosh, it appears the logo will be removeable as the pair comes with an extra set of blue Velcro-laden Swoosh's that starkly contrast the included grey logo. Bringing one back to original release of the AJKO, the size tag information is stamped in blank ink of the grey sockliner while the sole units sail and grey combo completes the look.
The Union LA x Air Jordan AJKO 1 Low Canvas Sail is set to release at select retailers worldwide on January 27th, 2023. A second drop will follow via Union's website on February 2nd, 2023. A Nike SNKRS drop is TBD. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $150.
