Featuring glitter, pearls, and patent leather, this upcoming adidas SL 72 is certainly a statement pair. As the German sportswear giant has recently evidenced, pushing the boundaries with classic models is a game plan that bears fruit, and the latest women's exclusives to surface are most decidedly mixing it up. With Superstars receiving beaded makeovers and Sambas adorned in leopard print, The Brand With The Three Stripes is doing things differently.
Core Black patent leather combines glitter-flecked synthetics to form the sleek low-cut upper on this adidas SL 72. The lace set, unusual for the model, is secreted underneath the patent leather eyestay, which features a smooth construction minus one solitary silver metallic eyelet at the top. At the midfoot, the glitter-speckled panel is contrasted by Three Stripes branding, which utilizes the core black patent leather.

Grabbing the attention is a string of pearls, attached at one end to a stud located on the lateral collar, and the other end reaches a stud on the back heel tab. The accessory is detachable with clasps and will be a conversation starter. Joining the stud on the heel tab is a Trefoil logo, finished in silver metallic against the shiny patent black hues.
A large silver graphic bearing the traditional Trefoil branding appears on the slick patent leather tongue, and linear adidas branding is seen on the insoles, infusing the sneaker with retro-esque styling on an undoubtedly modern design. A black rubber toe cap ensures durability at the front, while the dual-layered midsole features EVA cushioning, ensuring a comfortable fit. A black rubber outsole that provides improved grip and traction across various surfaces completes the aesthetic.
The adidas SL 72 OG Pearls Core Black W is set to release in March 2025 via adidas and select retailers online and in-store. Available in women's sizing, retail is to be announced.
