German sportswear giant adidas has honored cities across the globe through its own “City Series” of releases, spanning countries like Germany, Ireland, England, France, Italy, China, and more. However, their homages to America have been reserved for states, as seen with pairs like Oregon, Illinois, Alaska, Nevada, and Illinois. Now, The Three Stripes plans to honor the city of Atlanta with a 404 Day-themed adidas Superstar.
404 Day, much like other celebrations of cities across the US, takes its name from the area code used in phone numbers, which aligns with dates on the calendar (404 being April 4). We’ve seen adidas use this day as inspiration for previous pairs, especially in the realm of basketball, as Anthony Edwards’ AE 1 Georgia Red Clay was launched on April 4 to coincide with the holiday. For this Superstar, The Three Stripes keeps things simple, coating most of the model in black hues.
Contrasting hits of gold are found on the grill lace dubrae, tongue tag, and lateral midfoot and heel. The standard Superstar text appears next to the black faux snakeskin Three Stripes, and “404 DAY!” text lands on the heel. Pops of red land on the faux snakeskin heel tab, which has “ATL” text in black. Finishing the sneaker is the black rubber midsole with red contrast stitching and a red rubber outsole.
The adidas Superstar Atlanta 404 Day will release on April 4, 2025, through adidas and select retailers online and in-store. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $110.
