A $250 walking shoe doesn’t necessarily sound like something that would move or generate buzz, but New Balance has proved otherwise. After members of the brand’s Made in UK division began teasing the New Balance Allerdale, named after the region in which its Flimby, UK, factory is based, the brand finally released the low-top silhouette that, in all honestly, looks like something your grandpa would wear. Well, days after the drop, only size 7 and under are still in stock, meaning there is solid demand for the new sneaker. Following up on this brown colorway is a clean White option.
Like the OG variant, this new Allerdale Made in UK rendition features a premium tumbled leather upper coated in a single shade. This pair is obviously white. Grey accents appear on the midfoot’s embroidered NB logo, matching the hiking boot-inspired D-ring eyelets holding the white lace set. More premium leather is found on the sockliner, taking on a cream finish.

On the reverse of the tongue, a hidden nod to the Allerdale region is embroidered on a tag, depicting the landscape found in Lake District National Park, which is located in Allerdale. Down below, the sneaker has a cream rubber midsole featuring FuelCell cushioning for added comfort and a tonal hiking-ready rubber outsole.
The New Balance Allerdale Made in UK White will release on April 4, 2025, through Billy’s Ent. in Japan, but no US release date has been confirmed. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $250.
