While 2025 has been about the Air Max 95 and Air Jordan 1 celebrating their 30th and 40th birthdays, another sneaker is turning 40 years old — the Nike Dunk Low. The demand for the Dunk Low defined the early 2020s, specifically the Panda Dunk, which often sold out and garnered huge price premiums in the aftermarket. This white-hot demand has cooled down so much that Nike is tightening up on how many Dunks they release. Thankfully, they’ve not forgotten to celebrate the sneaker as a 40th Anniversary edition is expected to be released later this year.
Dressed in the classic white and black color scheme, the sneaker features a similar color-blocking to the GR Panda Dunk—now widely available and often found on sale. However, the material update and added features make this Panda Dunk stand out, starting with the glossy, wrinkled black leather on the overlays. Below this is a smooth white leather that covers the entire base layer.

A dyed effect is applied to the cotton laces, giving them a hand-dyed look as the shades and saturation of the black dye vary. On the reverse of the leather tongue tag, we see a custom cartoon panda depicted above the “EST. 1985” text. Finishing the sneaker is the white rubber midsole and a black rubber outsole.
The Nike Dunk Low Panda 40th Anniversary releases in Fall 2025 through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is $125.
