The NBA is amid a change of guard, with young stars rising to replace aging veterans. This generation includes Anthony Edwards, whose signature sneaker with adidas, the AE 1, has garnered attention for its cutting-edge design, affordability, and unique marketing campaigns. While we await release information for the Coral and Bred colorways, Edwards debuted a special PE edition of the AE 1 on the court, paying homage to his roots with a colorway inspired by his youth football team, the Atlanta Vikings.
The adidas AE 1 Atlanta Vikings PE stands out with its striking two-tone purple and gold finish, directly nodding to the team colors of the Atlanta Vikings. The sneaker features a large honeycomb TPU panel across the midfoot adorned with a metallic gold finish that immediately catches the eye. This golden touch extends to the lace set and heel branding, the latter incorporating an ant logo in a playful reference to Edwards' "Ant-Man" moniker. Above this sits a regal purple hue, covering the Primeblue knit material, TPU toe cap, and the faux carbon fiber heel counter, creating a royal aesthetic fitting for a player of Edwards' caliber. Rounding out the look is the semi-translucent sole unit, which encases adidas' Jet Boost and Lightstrike cushioning technology beneath.
