The adidas Basketball Metamorphosis Collection Leans Into St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations

Although Nike remains the dominant force in the performance basketball world, especially in the signature sneaker realm, adidas Basketball has been making major moves in the last few years. The change in the design language of signature athlete’s sneakers, like Damian Lillard and James Harden, and the introduction of Anthony Edwards' signature sneaker, the adidas AE 1, has drawn more attention to the label. The brand's latest collection of basketball sneakers is undergoing a metamorphosis just ahead of St. Patrick's Day.

The direct inspiration for this green-shaded collection of adidas Basketball sneakers, which includes the AE 1 Low, Dame 9, DON Issue 6, Harden Vol. 9, and Adizero Select 3.0, comes from the evolution of athlete's craft and how they evolved to reach the pinnacle of their sport. On top of this, impactful performances and star-making moments from March Madness helped inspire the color-shifting, pearlescent, and glossy finishes applied across all of the sneakers. We also can’t ignore the coincidence that the pairs launch just days ahead of St. Patrick’s Day and come coated in colors that perfectly celebrate the holiday.

The DON Issue 6, Dame 9, and Adizero Select 3.0 all feature the same volt green hue, with the DON opting for a secondary shade of white and the other two models hosting black contrasting hues. The same contrasts are applied to the Harden Vol. 9 and the AE 1 Low, though Harden’s shoe comes in a darker shade of green, and Ant-Man’s shoe takes on a pearlescent, color-changing hue.

The adidas Basketball Metamorphosis Pack will release on March 15, 2025, through adidas and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the pairs will retail for their typical prices: the Adizero Select and AE 1 Low at $110, the Dame 9 and DON Issue 6 at $120, and the Harden Vol. 9 at $160.
