When the Boost craze began in the mid-2010s, every sneakerhead was fiending for a pair of NMDs or Ultraboosts, though that era is long gone. Back are the days of retro silhouettes taking over the hype train with a sprinkle of Yeezy models still receiving love. However, adidas is still working on its Boost technology with inline releases, as seen on the upcoming adidas Double Boost.
First seen in this Grey White colorway, the sneaker utilizes a mixture of knit and mesh across the upper, reminiscent of an Ultraboost in its shape and design. Working up from the toe to the tongue portion you’ll find a matching set of grey laces that weave in and out of a rubberized midfoot cage, host to Three Stripes branding. Back around the collar, a sandwich mesh is covered by a layer of knit material while the heel contains a rubberized counter in a similar material to the midfoot's cage. Probably the most interesting detail is down below where a double-stacked Boost midsole is present with the top half running the full length of the sneaker and the bottom half adding extra cushioning in the heel, both separated by a torsion plate. Underfoot, a grooved rubber midsole comes in a tonal grey and completes the design.
The adidas Double Boost is slated to release in 2023 through adidas and select retailers online and in-store. As of now, sizing and pricing information is TBA. For more updates on the latest from adidas and the entire sneaker scene, keep it locked to our Twitter and the Sole Retriever mobile app.
