Retro footwear has forever remained a staple in the lineups of the biggest sneaker brands with the likes of Nike and adidas falling back on old-school staples throughout their release calendars. While Nike may reign supreme with the Dunk in its Low and High variants, adidas too joined in on the 80s basketball fervor with their vintage-inspired 84’ iteration of the adidas Forum. Plenty of colorways of this model have hit shelves in 2021 and 2022 with the latest high-top version to be revealed taking on shades of the Los Angeles Lakers.
Shades of cream, white, purple, and gold take over the leather and mesh constructed silhouette with the majority of the upper taking on the first two of the listed colors. These cream and white tones land on the mudguard, toebox, vamp, eyestays, X-Strap, and lockdown strap, while the rest of the colors accent on details throughout. Atop the sandwich mesh tongue sits an “adidas 84 Forum” in purple, white, and gold while the collar and Three Stripes branding on the lateral side come in a solid purple hue. More gold hits appear via the collar overlay, the Trefoil logo near the heel, Three Stripes on the medial side, and on the lockdown strap. Rounding out the design is a cream-colored rubber midsole featuring exposed Dillinger Webbing on the medial side paired with a light gum rubber outsole.
The adidas Forum High 84 Lakers is set to release in 2022 through adidas and select Three Stripes retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $140.
