Skateboarding may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think adidas, however, their roster of talent and collaborators in this space has proven they are tapped in with the culture. One of these partners, Mark Gonzales, has had a variety of projects with The Three Stripes over the years and even has his own redesigned Trefoil logo dubbed the “Shmoofoil” logo - a combination of his Shmoo character and the iconic adidas Trefoil logo. After their last collab took on the adidas Ultraboost, the duo is back working on a skate-ready silhouette - the adidas Gonz Aloha.
Taking the archival fencing silhouette the adidas Aloha Super, The Gonz transforms the model into a skate-ready sneaker through its elevated suede upper and a durable, grippy rubber sole unit. Scarlet shades take over the majority of the upper's overlays as well as details like the laces and Shmoofoil atop the tongue while the patent leather Three Stripes logo along the midfoot takes on a stark white appearance. This shade continues onto the insole and via the “MG” embroidery on the heel. Underfoot, a semi-translucent black rubber midsole and grippy rubber outsole complete the design.
The adidas Gonz Aloha Chair Fight is set to release on December 3rd, 2022 through adidas and select skate shops online and in-store. Releasing in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $95.
