adidas is launching a Jabbar Low with a bright aesthetic to bring some color to the winter months. The classic low-cut silhouette is set to release in Team Power Red and an all-new Apple Green iteration in what will be a powerful combination to stand out on shelves this holiday season.
Fresh off the reissue of the original Off White Collegiate Royal Pack, the adidas inline team is keeping the Jabbar train rolling with multiple material blends and colorways on a shoe first released in the 1970s. Since then, the culture's growth has been exponential, perfectly amplified, and exemplified by Nike's creation of the Air Jordan line in the 1980s. Today, social media is dominated daily with posts about what athletes wear. This algorithm includes what they wear as they arrive to play and what's on foot during the game.
The NBA is undoubtedly at the top of that particular food chain, with players like Kyle Kuzma seemingly spawning meme material at will. The influence on the fashion scene and the culture, in general, is something that brands are constantly aware of, and the current trend of retro bringbacks is something adidas can lean heavily into, with one of the most incredible back catalogs. This leads to sneakers like the Jabbar being prominently featured, now leading the way on the path the Rivalry and Forum 84 recently made.
The adidas Jabbar Low Apple Green arrives with an upper constructed from green suede. A cream-white leather tongue has a gold foil decal that features Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and his signature. More cream-white leather is on the back heel tab and the Three Stripes branding on the sides. The lining is also covered in leather, this time in green to match the overall design. Underfoot, the textured rubber sole, which features a line of stitching that wraps around the entire shoe, is slightly yellowed to capture the vintage feel while providing comfort and grip.
The adidas Jabbar Low Apple Green is set to release on December 5, 2024, via adidas and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men's sizing, retail is $110.
