The early 2000s era of basketball was both a golden age for the sport itself and the footwear many athletes were rocking on the court. Stars that permeated the globe like Kobe Bryant and LeBron James began their careers, though there were plenty of stars throughout the entire NBA. One man who may not receive the attention like the aforementioned superstars, Tracy McGrady, dominated the league in his own way through high-scoring seasons and killer mid-range jump shots, landing him a spot in the NBA Hall Of Fame. During his playing career, T-MAC was lacing up his signature silhouettes with adidas on the court with the first of many being the adidas T-MAC 1. Now in 2022, we’re set to get a return of an OG colorway for the silhouette, coming in McGrady’s team’s, the Orlando Magic, away colors.
A simple two-tone color scheme takes over the sneaker, appearing in core black and royal blue, with a mixture of patent leather, mesh, and rubber seen around the upper. Like the notorious Stan Smith, the toe features a rubber panel, though the T-MAC’s runs across the toe and meets with the outsole. Surrounding this is perforated leather in an all-black appearance, matching the tongue and lace set nearby. Branding details atop the tongue come in the form of the adidas mountain logo and come in the accenting royal blue shade. This same combo appears back on the heel with black stripes running both vertically and horizontally around the spine of the heel. For our last hit of Three Stripes branding, the iconic logo is debossed in the patent leather near the collar while McGrady’s jersey number, “1”, gets debossed near the heel. Rounding out the design is the adiPRENE+ cushioned sole unit that comes encased by a blue rubber outsole.
The adidas T-MAC 1 Orlando Away is set to release on November 19th, 2022 through adidas and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s and grade school sizing, the pair will retail for $140 and $130 respectively.
