Going back to Madison Square Garden in 2016, Ye just premiered his Yeezy Season 3 line alongside his latest album, The Life Of Pablo, to a sold-out crowd and over 20 million viewers via Tidal. On the feet of Young Thug is an unreleased pair of Yeezy Boots that still have yet to see the light of day, the adidas Yeezy 1050. With countless samples and prototypes produced over the years, the silhouette has been a grail for the most devout Yeezyheads, some paying upwards of $5,000 for sample pairs. Once Ye wore the latest iteration during his Donda Listening Party in Atlanta, the sneaker world was buzzing with excitement that the silhouette in its Hi-Res colorway would see a release.
Since that moment in July 2021, rumors swirled of a release at the end of 2021 or the beginning of 2022, though that never came to be. Celebrities such as Offset, Quavo, Chris Brown, and more were gifted pairs by Ye, alongside an orange adidas Yeezy QNTM, which gave hope to many who were looking to secure a pair themselves. Unfortunately, sources are stating that the adidas Yeezy 1050 Hi-Res was produced in a limited size run exclusively for friends & family. This is likely due to production issues and/or manufacturing costs for the pair as the silhouette is reportedly receiving small redesigns.
Although the coveted Hi-Res colorway won’t see a retail release, it is still possible for more colorways to eventually make their way to consumers in the future, especially with the news that the adidas Yeezy 950 is returning in 2023 and samples of new Yeezy Boots popping up.
