While many of Yeezy’s latest silhouettes look towards the future of footwear, whether that be through eco-friendly builds, wild designs, or new technology, they still know how to pull off the vintage aesthetic with their special twist. This is most evident in the Yeezy 500 model, taking inspiration from a vintage Kobe basketball model and fusing it with an organically designed retro runner inspired upper.
Its cousin, the Yeezy 500 High, has not seen the success the low top model has, considering you can still find pairs on retailers sites months after their release. Since the “Mist Stone” colorway released in October, the silhouette has remained dormant, that is until the recent reveal of the adidas Yeezy 500 High “Brown.” Coming to us in the earth tone shades of brown that Yeezy is infamous for, the silhouette raises the 500 model up by extending the collar of the suede, nubuck, leather, and mesh upper. Around the toebox sits a patch of suede, placed just above a black rubber mudguard that runs the profile of the silhouette.
Going up from the bottommost eyelet, oval shaped suede eyestays come trimmed with a tannish-brown leather, housing the infinity lacing system within. The neoprene on the tongue gets a darker brown treatment while the surrounding panels come in a tannish-brown, accented by dark brown leather and light brown suede overlays. Back on the heel, all the previously mentioned materials stack up to form what resembles an adidas Trefoil logo sans the actual design. Rounding out the look is the adiPRENE+ midsole in a charcoal grey paired with a darker grey rubber outsole.
The adidas Yeezy 500 High Taupe Black is set to release on September 19th through adidas Confirmed, adidas.com/yeezy, Yeezy Supply, and select Yeezy retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $220. To stay updated on the latest from Yeezy and more, keep it locked to our Twitter andMobile App to stay up to date on future releases.
