Ye has made black boots a staple in his wardrobe, wearing a handful of vintage workwear boots from Red Wing and his favorite Balenciaga Croc Boot. His love for the footwear dates back to the 2010’s. The Chelsea Boot was at the height of men’s fashion while later transitioning into countless Yeezy Season models. While his recent boots with adidas have stayed true to the futuristic and utilitarian design of Yeezy, he has recently been spotted wearing something reminiscent of the Red Wing 3049. According to reputable Ye sources, this new unnamed boot is actually a prototype for a future adidas Yeezy Boot.
Spotted in an all-black look, the boot pulls quite a bit from the Red Wing 3049, though the silhouette appears to be slimmed down. It appears the upper comes constructed out of leather around the toebox and profile while the neoprene used near the collar seems to borrow a similar design to the unreleased adidas Yeezy 1050. Running down the leg cover is another hit of neoprene, possibly indicating the internal construction will hug your foot in place. An overlay with 3M piping on the heel appears reminiscent of the Red Wing 3049 the model is so heavily inspired by. While cushioning remains a mystery as of now, the outsole seems to borrow from the NSLTD Boot, with its aggressive traction design peeking around the side providing excellent grip and stability.
This new adidas Yeezy Boot prototype currently has no confirmed release window, though rumors are suggesting that it will be manufactured by adidas and see a retail release in 2023. Retail pricing is a mystery, but looking at recent boot releases from adidas and Yeezy suggest they will be upwards of a few hundred dollars.
