Dominating the news cycle for the wrong reasons, Ye (FKA Kanye West) has burned virtually every bridge in his business and personal life. The continued use of hateful rhetoric across social media and in his recent press run has caused not only GAP to fully cut ties but his partners at adidas, his bank, and many many more. While the future of upcoming adidas Yeezy releases is still a mystery, planned drops for the rest of 2022 may still be going down somewhat lowkey. Loading up on JD Sports’ release calendar, two colorways of the adidas Yeezy Desert Boot, the “Oil” and “Salt” pairs, may be seeing a restock in November.
After releasing a very similar silhouette through his Yeezy Season line, Ye and adidas brought the outdoor-ready upscale boot down to the masses while lowering the price point. Both pairs set to release feature a mixture of suede, mesh, and nubuck with the former of the three appearing on the toebox reminiscent of the Yeezy 500, oval-shaped eyestays, and heel overlay. On the “Oil” colorway, we see an all-over tonal brown makeover while the “Salt” features a greenish-tinted grey from head to toe. Yeezy’s organic design language shines through with the circular panels of mesh popping between the nubuck and suede while the lacing system stays contemporary with more tonal hits on each colorway. Running down the spine of the tongue is a 3M reflective nylon pull tab, adding some shine to the muted model. Branding details are a little tricky at the moment. While normally co-branded Yeezy and adidas logos make it to the insole, based on the recent split between the two, it's still up in the air whether or not adidas will include any Yeezy branding on releases. Rounding out the entire design is a chunky foam midsole featuring EVA cushioning paired with a grooved rubber outsole, both of which take on tonal shades based on the upper.
The adidas Yeezy Desert Boot Oil and Salt are currently loaded up for a release on JD Sports on November 7th, 2022, though whether or not they will release through JD and/or other retailers. If they do release, both pairs will retail for $200 and come in men’s sizing.
