Aimé Leon Dore and New Balance have cultivated a partnership known for delivering some of the most sought-after sneakers. Infusing New Balance's classic silhouettes with ALD's distinct aesthetic, each release is a testament to the duo's harmonious fusion of heritage and modern style. Following looks at a “White Green Gum” colorway of the Aime Leon Dore x New Balance 650R, a “UNC” colorway has now emerged.
The silhouette features a white leather upper covering the toe box, mudguard, midfoot panel, eyelets, and heel — providing a clean, crisp backdrop for the vibrant accents. The perforated leather profile, adorned with 650 branding, adds a textural dimension to the design. University of North Carolina colors are introduced via the leather collar overlay, sockliner, and piping for the various overlays. Complementing the leather elements, mesh is used as a base along the collar, tongue, and the distinctive "N" logo, enhancing the sneaker's breathability and comfort. Split branding between ALD and NB is present, with the left pair featuring ALD's apple logo, while the right sports the traditional New Balance "NB." ALD also takes over the tongue tag and replaces the basketball graphic with an apple design, representing the brand’s NYC roots. Rounding out the design is a white rubber midsole and a gum rubber outsole.
The Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 650R UNC will release on June 15 via a raffle through Aimé Leon Dore. A release via New Balance's website will go down on June 23. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $165.
