The shape of Air Jordan 1 Retro releases has changed over the years, straying from the original 1985 version into a mid-top-like cut in the 2000s. After a change to the shape in the early 2010s and a “remaster” in 2015, we were finally introduced to what Jordan Brand claims is the closest to the original — the Air Jordan 1 High 85. The model has been one of the more elusive in Jordan Brand’s lineup, typically only offered once a year, with 2025 already hosting the iconic Bred colorway in what has become one of the more controversial releases in recent memory. However, another pair may be joining the lineup in 2025, as Hiroshi Fujiwara has been spotted rocking a new colorway of the 85 AJ 1.

Resembling the Air Jordan 1 High Shadow 2.0, which was released back in 2021 before Jordan Brand updated the shape of the Air Jordan 1 Retro in 2022 with the Lost & Found colorway, the pair comes with shadow grey hues on the mudguard, eyestays, Swoosh, collar, and heel. The inspiration for this colorway comes from a sample pair of Air Jordan 1s from 1985, which tweaked the colorblocking of the original Shadow colorway to add the grey hue to all of the overlays on the upper.

Although not visible in this photo, expect the Wings logo to be resized and placed in a position similar to the original 1985 version of the Air Jordan 1, and expect a higher cut on the nylon tongue. As for the rest of the upper, black hits take over the toebox, tongue, lace set, and midfoot panel. Finishing the design is the sail-shaded rubber midsole and shadow grey rubber outsole.

As of this writing, there is no confirmed release information for the Air Jordan 1 High 85 Shadow 2.0. Rumors are floating that the pair is slated for a Summer 2025 release. Perhaps like OG Chase B receiving a pair of the Air Jordan 1 High 85 in the Royal colorway, this Shadow 2.0 pair will be gifted to friends and family of Jordan Brand in 2025 as part of the 40th anniversary celebrations.
