Even though we receive countless Air Jordan releases each and every year, there are even more samples and colorways that never see the light of day - unless you’ve got access to the inside. Step in Mayor, one of the OGs in the sneaker game and someone who has unrivaled access to the vault at Jordan Brand. Even after selling a big chunk of his collection to Urban Neccessities owner TwoJsKicks, he’s still got plenty of heat in the closet. In a move that seems to one-up the recent reveal of the “Rubik’s Cube” sample posted by Fat Joe, Mayor posted an “Alternate” sample colorway of the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG Quai54 on his Instagram.
Taking on a split-color design, the right side of each sneaker comes covered in a monochromatic color (red on the left shoe and blue on the right) while the left side of each sneaker is entirely dressed in white. Even with this coming split, the tongue itself is entirely covered in white and hosts flipped colors on the Quai54 tag up top as blue is present on the left shoe and red is featured on the right. Taking a top-down view of the sneaker, it's obvious the intention was to recreate the French flag as the Quai54 tournament takes place in Paris, France every summer. Underfoot, the AJ 1 midsole comes in white on both sneakers while the outsole borrows from the secondary color of each respective half.
The Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG Quai54 Alternate sample will, unfortunately, remain a sample pair.
