While heading down to the arcade with a pocket full of quarters is no longer a regular pastime in 2022, the retro aesthetic is as strong as ever, from vintage video game systems to a pair of J’s from the 80s. Combining both of these and packaging them for the kids in our lives, the Air Jordan 1 Low "Old School Gaming" (GS) brings 80s video game inspired graphics to MJ’s first silhouette.
Transforming the AJ1 Low into 8-bit graphics on the rear, the front half of the silhouette takes on an all-white appearance. On the toebox, leather is swapped out for mesh, keeping this same material for the white tongue. Wrapping around the toebox is a white leather overlay, also staying the same on the eyestays and its white cotton laces, sitting just below the black Jumpman branding atop the tongue. Once you hit the midfoot panel you transport to an 8-bit world thanks to the cloud graphics placed on the blue leather while the medial side hosts a pixelated sunset graphic.
Even the Nike Swoosh gets in on the retro aesthetic with a pixelated graphic in a gradient rush pink. Around the collar sits a lemon venom leather panel, located just below the white sockliner and its 8-bit emoji graphics. Another 1980s video game motif can be found on the yellow insole, adorned with a gold trophy graphic and the number 6, nodding to MJ's 6 rings. Back on the heel overlay, a black and green brick graphic houses a pixilated Air Jordan Wings logo in lemon venom. Finishing the old-school colorway is the classic white-on-black midsole and outsole combo.
