Those who are in the know will understand the importance Fat Joe has in the sneaker game. Alongside Mayor and DJ Clark Kent, the three have long had a connection to Nike and Jordan Brand that has given the trio access to some of the rarest sneakers, PEs, and more over the last few decades. While we all await an official unveiling of the Terror Squad x Nike Air Force 1 release in 2023, Fat Joe took to Instagram to showcase a previously unseen Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG sample that takes its inspiration from a “Rubik’s Cube.”
Like the classic toy puzzle, the sneaker features the rainbow of colors you’d find on a standard Rubik’s Cube with patent leather panels contrasting one another. Green shades take over the mudguard and collar, red appears on the toebox, and collar overlay while orange shades take over the Swoosh branding and laces. Stark whites pop along the eyestays while the quarter panel comes in a vibrant yellow hue and blue shades take over the tongue, sockliner, and heel overlay. Underfoot sits an orange AJ 1 midsole paired with a blue rubber outsole completing the multi-color design.
The Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG Rubik’s Cube sample will likely never see a retail release, though we’re unsure at this time of when this PE was produced.
