At the tail end of the year, a large number of major holidays from cultures across the world begin to appear. One holiday that somewhat mirrors Halloween, Dia De Los Muertos (translated to Day Of The Dead), is not only celebrated by those of Mexican heritage but by Nike and Jordan, with commemorative colorways on their most popular silhouettes. While The Swoosh has led the pack with releases in the last few years, Jordan Brand is returning to the holiday celebration with the Air Jordan 1 High Zoom CMFT “Somos Familia.”
Utilizing a mixture of short-haired and hairy suede, the Mexican holiday comes to life with its use of vibrant shades and traditional patterns throughout the sneaker. Around the toe, things appear normal with tan panels staying plain, while the magenta-colored tongue gets covered in the aforementioned pattern. Moving on to the midfoot, this same design is plastered in white atop the smooth suede quarter panel, home to a textile cut-out Nike Swoosh and more floral patterns. Further branding details, like the Jordan Wings logo and special embroidery on the heel, delve into a multicolor mix, while the insole hosts the colorways namesake, “Siempre Juntos” (translating to Always Together). Even the packaging joins in on this theme with similar shades and designs taking over the cardboard. Rounding out the design is the tan midsole with cream accenting stitching featuring a full-length Zoom Air unit paired with a cream rubber outsole.
The Air Jordan 1 High Zoom CMFT DOTD Somos Familia is slated to release in October 2022, hopefully before the holiday’s celebration in November, through Nike and select Jordan Brand retailers online and in-store. Releasing in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $150.
