Well past Michael Jordan's retirement, Jordan Brand has continued the numerical Air Jordan line and is now onto the Jordan 38. Previous iterations in the 30s have taken inspiration from OG models. For example, Jordan Brand looked to the Air Jordan 6 for design features on the AJ36 while the Jordan 37 took design inspiration from the Air Jordan 7. Now, following first looks from Kiki Rice and early imagery, official images of the Air Jordan 38 in the "Fundamental" colorway have appeared.
Sporting a mid-top design, the model features a two-tone white/black color scheme on its upper. Along the toebox, tongue, and portions of the eyestays, we see white shades take over, with all but the tongue getting dressed in leather. Working to the profile, we see a knit-like material wrap back towards the collar and meet with the heel tab’s leather. This portion and the tongue feature Jumpman branding embroidered in its center. Straying from this white/black color palette is the lining of the tongue, which gets dressed in siren red. Rounding out the look is the midsole which features geometric shapes in a combo of black and semi-translucent clear rubber paired with a semi-translucent rubber outsole in a clear/siren red color scheme. Tech specs for the model remain a mystery, though expect to see some of Jordan Brand’s latest innovations in materials and cushioning appear on the model.
The Air Jordan 38 Fundamental will release on August 25 through Nike and select Jordan Brand retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $200.
