Jordan Brand athletes are blessed to receive care packages from the brand that include the latest colorways and models, with some being fortunate enough to get their own PEs. One player who consistently has received their own colorway on the newest performance models is Chinese basketball star Guo Ailun. Ailun gets to work on the Jordan 38 Low for his latest PE, following up on his Jordan 38 from late last year.
This special edition of the Air Jordan 38 Low is a testament to Guo Ailun's style and cultural heritage, featuring a striking jade-colored theme synonymous with Chinese culture and aesthetics. Complementing the hyper turquoise are tasteful black, white, and canary accents, creating a visually appealing palette that stands out on the court and the streets. The sneaker employs a mix of nubuck, neoprene, and textile materials, ensuring comfort and durability. Unlike the standard AJ38 Low, Guo Ailun's PE edition introduces a freeform wavy pattern across the textile portions of the collar and heel, incorporating white, yellow, and black hues for added depth and contrast.
The branding on this PE is distinctly personalized; the right sneaker features the iconic Jumpman logo, while the left bears Guo's G logo, signifying his stamp on the design. Inside the tongue, the phrase "心之所向,身之所往," which translates to "Wherever the heart goes, the body goes," reiterates Guo's philosophy and the inspirational message that has accompanied his previous Jordan models. Rounding out the design is the hyper turquoise, black, and canary midsole paired with a hyper turquoise rubber outsole.
The Air Jordan 38 Low Guo Ailun PE will release in Summer 2024 through Nike and select Jordan Brand retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the sneaker will retail for $175.
