Jordan Brand has unveiled the 38th signature silhouette from Michael Jordan, marking yet another milestone for the sportswear label. Amplifying the spotlight on this new release, Dearica Hamby, the talented forward for the WNBA’s Las Vegas Aces and Jordan Brand athlete, was spotted rocking the upcoming Air Jordan 38 WNBA colorway months before we would receive official photos.
The sneaker’s performance-driven design elements cater specifically to the demands of professional basketball, including an X-Plate, Cushlon 3.0, and Zoom Strobel underfoot. It sports a mesh, suede, and TPU upper that draws select details from the Air Jordan 8, with this colorway almost wholly dressed in orange. Unlike the “Fundamental” rendition we saw on the feet of Kiki Rice, this “WNBA” iteration swaps out the Jumpman branding on the tongue for the league's logo. Black Jumpman branding does remain on the heel and the right sneaker. Various stars are spotted across the toe and collar which feature a 3M finish, shining once hit with light. These stars, alongside the ones found on the custom insole, represent the 12 teams in the WNBA. The design comes complete via the orange midsole and outsole.
The Air Jordan 38 WNBA (W) will release September 25 through Nike and select Jordan Brand retailers online and in-store. Coming in women’s sizing, the retail price is set at $200.
