90s kids and those who grew up watching Nick At Nite should be all too familiar with The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air. On the show, Will Smith (who played a fictionalized version of himself) was at the forefront of fashion and rocked fits that encapsulate that era to a T - even rocking Air Jordans while MJ was still dominating on the court. Your first thought when thinking “Jordan’s Will Smith wore” would likely be the “Grape” colorway, however, Jordan Brand paid homage to the show through a series of colorways once the show was off the air - including the Air Jordan 5 “Bel-Air.” While the retail version came in a combination of grey suede mixed with 90s colors, we’re getting first looks at the wild looksee sample that could have been the official retail release.
90s style shines through with this sample's use of vibrant colors throughout the upper as the base suede’s blue shade comes contrasts with black, neon pinks, yellows, and varying shades of blue. Taking over the eyestays and lace set is black while the cage on the tongue and quarter panel comes with a semi-translucent clear finish. Sitting atop the dark grey 3M-laden tongue tag is a neon yellow embroidered Jumpman logo, piercing through the pink shades found on the lace lock and sockliner. Underfoot sits the iconic AJ 5 midsole, however, this iteration comes with splatter paint in contrasting shades as the shark teeth come with a pink/blue combo, the black sole unit features neon yellow, and the heel gets a blue/yellow finish. Rounding out the design is the (once) icy semi-translucent rubber outsole with neon hits on the midfoot and toe.
