Showing love to athletes, celebrities, and influencers, we often see Jordan Brand gifting a select few individuals with exclusive colorways and renditions of their historical retro silhouettes. Though we usually don’t get a good look at these exclusive sneakers until years after their inception, those that are plugged in give the world detailed looks at pairs like the recently revealed Craig Sager x Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG. Now just like the aforementioned pair, English Sole has showcased a looksee sample crafted for Mark Wahlberg and his performance in Transformers: Age Of Extinction back in 2014 on the Air Jordan 5 Retro “Transformers.”
Covered in canvas with a grid pattern laid across it, the sneaker takes on an all-black appearance with stark white, silver, and multi-color accents throughout. Key details remain unchanged, like the Jumpman surrounded by 3M along the tongue and the clear lacelock, while we see the number “84” placed on the lateral collars in place of the normal “23” for Jordan. This is likely a nod to the year 1984, the same year in which Mark began the musical career that eventually catapulted him to fame, though its exact meaning is a mystery. Direct references to the Transformers series make their way to the reverse of the tongue with a patch spelling out the title of the movie and a graphic depicting Optimus Prime on the insoles. Rounding out the sneaker is the black AJ 5 midsole with silver shark teeth featuring multi-color speckles paired with a semi-translucent icy blue GITD outsole that hosts a Jumpman logo and an Autobot logo on the right and left sneaker respectively.
The Air Jordan 5 Retro Transformers Looksee Sample is one that is going to remain in the vault for Jordan Brand, though you can take a detailed look at the pair down below.
