Anthony Edwards and adidas Gift The Kansas Jayhawks Basketball Team adidas AE 1 Low PEs

Although he honed his skills on the NCAA court playing for the University of Georgia, Anthony Edwards and his partners at adidas are looking to honor a historic college basketball program with the adidas AE 1 Low. Ahead of the University of Kansas’ game against the Houston Cougars, Edwards and adidas gave both the men’s and women’s Jayhawks an exclusive Kansas-themed colorway of his first signature sneaker.

Inspired by the school’s uniform and colors, the silhouette opts for a royal blue finish on the Primeblue knit portions of the upper. Still, it sticks to the traditional black finish for the lace set, tongue, and sockliner. The generative support wing, reinforcing the midfoot with its honeycomb-esque pattern, is presented in a white and blue marbled pattern, with each pair having a unique finish, making them all 1-of-1s.

Direct nods to the Kansas Jayhawks are found on the heel and insole, the latter splitting the school's “Rock Chalk” cheer between the left and right pair. We see Kansas text on the heel in the school’s font placed along the pull tab, while the faux carbon fiber heel counter has a blue finish. Atop this counter are red Three Stripes, helping tie together the Jayhawks’ color scheme. Finishing the design is the marbled blue and white rubber outsole.

The adidas AE 1 Low Kansas Jayhawks PE will not be released to the public; instead, they will only be available to student-athletes and staff of the men’s and women’s basketball teams. There are plenty of upcoming colors on the AE 1 Low to look forward to, including the PE to Retail, Metallic Grey, and Champagne Metallic.
