Anthony Edwards' signature sneaker with adidas, the AE 1, has dominated sneaker culture since its debut in December 2023. Not only have hoopers been raving about its on-court performance, but sneakerheads have also taken a liking to the futuristic model and its relatively inexpensive retail price of $120. So far, we've seen the model in various GR colorways and a few PEs, like the Atlanta Vikings PE inspired by Edwards' youth football team as a child.
The latest chapter in the AE 1 saga features a celebratory design for the McDonald's All-American Game. This event showcases the top high school basketball talent in the United States. This special edition of the AE 1 embraces a vibrant, mismatched color scheme that pays homage to the iconic event. The sneakers are distinguished by a white Primeblue base, a sustainable material known for its performance and eco-friendly attributes.
The midfoot's honeycomb TPU overlay is presented in contrasting colors – blue on the right shoe and red on the left, symbolizing the competitive spirit of the game. A faux carbon fiber reinforcement sits on the heel, echoing the same accenting color on each sneaker. The McDonald's All-American branding further elevates the design, with prominent placement on the tongue and the heel's pull tab. The design is completed with a Jet Boost and Light Strike cushioned midsole and a semi-translucent clear rubber outsole.
