The last few years have seen footwear brands heavily emphasize slip-on footwear as models like the adidas Yeezy Slide, Foam RNNR, and Salehe Bembury x Crocs Pollex Clog took the industry by storm. Asics’ entry in this futuristic slip-on trend was released in very limited quantities during the summer of 2022. Dubbed the Asics Actibreeze 3D Sandal, it is a fully-3D-printed slide that is designed to help with post-run recovery. We have only seen one colorway (all-black) hit retail shelves so far. This will change in 2023 as a clean “Mako Blue” colorway has just appeared.
The entire model is designed with a parametrical construction and is 3D-printed with a honeycomb-like design. Due to this lattice structure, the breathability is unparalleled in footwear, providing zoned comfort on select portions of the silhouette. Printed along the forefoot strap, we see a large Asics logo outline while still featuring this lattice structure design. For this “Mako Blue” colorway, the entire silhouette gets doused in a monochromatic blue hue from top to bottom. Rounding out the design is the 3D-printed outsole, featuring more of the lattice structure.
The Asics Actibreeze 3D Sandal Mako Blue will be released in 2023 through Asics and select retailers online and in-store. Releasing in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $80.
