Asics Brings Japanese Beef To Their Gel-Lyte III
PublishedAsics is well known for covering their silhouettes in colors and materials inspired by good eats including salmon, noodle bars, and more. Being from Japan, it only makes sense that one of the most coveted grades of beef, Kobe, gets its flowers from Asics, as seen on the Gel-Lyte III "Prime."
The entire upper of the running-inspired silhouette gets covered in blacked-out faux cow fur with golden accents near the rear. Canvas panels come courtesy of the tongue and collar, keeping in theme with the blacked-out silhouette. Along the midfoot, the iconic Asics logo gets dressed in more all-black, though this time taking on a leather build. Back on the heel overlay, various types of beef are embroidered in golden thread with “Kobe”, “Matsusaka”, and “Omi,” as well as “Prime” getting placed on the lateral side. The beef theme also appears on the insole with a graphic of a well-marbled cut of meat accented by a black Asics logo. Rounding out the look is the black-on-black midsole and outsole combo.
The Asics Gel-Lyte III Prime is set to release exclusively in Japan through select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men's sizing, the retail price will be approximately $147 USD.
